At IHS Global Insight, we use only the most reliable data sources for model estimation and forecasting. We regularly subject our extensive data repository—one of the largest privately held collections in the world—to rigorous quality-control procedures.
We build our advertising-spending estimates using detailed industry-expenditure data published by the U.S. Department of Commerce. We supplement this information with data collected from recognized public and private sources, as well as surveys of selected industries. Our sources include:
